When my children were young, Beanie Babies were all the rage and I can remember driving all over the place to find them. As soon as a new one was released, everyone scrambled to be the first to own it! A few years after the craze had ended, I remember packing up a huge box of those creatures and storing them in our attic... ah, yes, the circle of life for a toy!
This cake was based on a toy that reminds me of a Beanie Baby... a YooHoo pink lemur that is the birthday girl's favorite little critter. Good thing I made the cake base for him. That was the only part that Taylor was willing to cut into!

Hi!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog after doing a google search for "beanie babies cake". This cake is exactly what I have been looking for! It's beautiful! My daughter is turning 7 and she and all of her friends are obsessed with this line of Beanie Babies (they call them "big eye creatures"). I'd like to make her a "big eye" cake for her birthday. Could you possibly give me some direction on exactly how you did this? Specifically, what size pans and what number tips for the frosting. I'm guessing that I can do a couple of round layers for the body and then maybe a half ball cake for the head?? And possibly insert an oreo on each side for the ears (and then cover those with frosting). And maybe donut holes for the arms and feet?? I would be so grateful for any advice you are willing to give. All of your cakes are amazing!
Thanks in advance,
Tracey
