A Lego Birthday Bash

Here's to Mason - a big fan of legos who was turning eight.  Just the right number of candles to put into a giant edible lego block... and, so, a cake design was born.  These 5" building blocks were made of yummy rice cereal treats and covered in buttercream and fondant.  All the other lego blocks and the red lego ninja were made of sugar paste.

Mason's mom told me that one of the party guests asked Mason if his cake was made by the "Cake Boss."  I love it!

  1. And a Lego Ninja, this doesn't get any better! VERY NICE WORK!

  2. Awesome job! Is the bottom cake covered with buttercream or fondant?

  3. It's buttercream - almost every cake I make is iced in buttercream with sugar decorations.

  4. Hi there, I was wondering if the name Logan was cut using special cutters? Haven't seen that style of cutter before.

  5. I cut the letters out by hand. I made a paper template for each letter and then traced around them with an exacto knife. I tried to imitate the font in the Lego logo.

Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog - I love hearing from readers! Happy caking!
