A Mermaid's Tale

Under the sea, under the sea
Darlin' it's better down where it's wetter
Take it from me...

Ariel the Little Mermaid birthday cakeButtercream waves and seaweed are the backdrop for this yummy underwater birthday cake. Glittery shells are handmolded chocolate. Purple coral is made of gumpaste. Ariel and Flounder were provided by the birthday girl... I gave Ariel's tale a coat of edible glitter to add more sparkle.

  5. Your cake looks amazing. I will be doing an under the sea theme cake for my 4 year old daughter and would like to know what you used to create the sea grass that stands on top of the cake?

  6. Sylvie, the seaweed is fondant that I rolled thin and cut with an exacto knife. I made it several days in advance so it would harden and hold it's shape.
