Olivia and Her Friends

One look at this cake and you can easily tell a lot about my little friend Olivia.  Her favorite movies are "Finding Nemo," "Tangled," and "Happy Feet" and she loves Minnie Mouse!  But the best thing is the sweet nickname that her father gave her.  Olivia's mom sent me a great video after the party of Olivia digging into her big chocolate cake with gusto.  Sooo cute!  I love to bake for folks that are enthusiastic!

Knit one, Purl two

I have never really mastered the art of knitting, but I know a wonderful group of ladies who are really good at it.  They get together every other week at my church to knit prayer shawls to give to members of the congregation who are dealing with illness or loss.  It's a tangible way to share God's love.  Between the casting on and binding off, these ladies share and pray and laugh together.  I have peeked in at their gatherings and, trust me, these girls know how to have fun!

I recently received a shawl knit by this team and I was truly touched by their gift.  It's warm and cozy, but even more than that, the beautiful magenta shawl is a terrific reminder that I am part of a church family that really cares about each other.  So I decided to say thank you with a treat... a few chocolate cupcakes to share at their next meeting.

A Party at Pinehurst

Many of you know that I spend a lot of time on golf courses watching my son play golf.  So I was super excited to make a cake with a Pinehurst theme.  It's one of the ultimate golf venues!  I used some of the most recognizable images - the resort, the bushes that spell "Pinehurst" and, of course, Putter Boy.  He's the statue that stands next to the practice green at the main resort and he's also on the Pinehurst logo.  My favorite twist?  The personalized the bushes for the birthday boy with his name and birth year.

Fashionista Cupcakes

These were the samples I took to a recent cupcake party.  I spent a fun afternoon with six girls helping them be sugar fashion designers.   The party lasted over two hours and, honestly, I think they all would have stayed for two more.  It was a great time!

Will You Marry Me?

He asked... She said "Yes"... They ate cake and lived happily ever after!
